QLINE COVID-19 POLICY
M-1 RAIL conducts daily COVID-19 screening for all staff, vendors, and visitors working at or visiting the Penske Technical Center. M-1 RAIL follows all CDC, TSA, and other applicable federal and state guidelines as it relates to passenger service. This includes but is not limited to:
Face Coverings
- Strongly encouraging all operators and passengers to continue wearing face coverings at all stations and on all streetcars.
- Signage stating recommendations for face coverings will be placed at each station, on the exterior of all streetcars near all boarding doors, and in several locations in the interior of each streetcar. This includes digital banners in each streetcar, as well as digital banners on the exterior and sides of each streetcar cab. Audio reminders of face covering recommendations will be played in the streetcar at regular intervals.
Social Distancing
- Social distancing of six feet between passengers will be communicated via signage throughout the interior of each streetcar.
- Digital messaging will be added to each station platform encouraging passengers to observe six feet or more of social distancing on all platforms and streetcars.
Passenger Hygiene
- Dispensers containing alcohol-based hand sanitizer have been installed in each streetcar, which will provide hand sanitizer containing a minimum of 60 percent alcohol per FDA standards.
- Additional signage will be incorporated throughout station platforms and the interior of streetcars encouraging healthy hygiene practices such as regular hand washing.
Station and Streetcar Cleaning and Disinfection
- Disinfection of common surfaces on station platforms (i.e. fare machines; railings) and on streetcars (i.e. fare machines; railings; seats; windows; operator cab) will occur on a daily basis.
Passenger Service Policy Enforcement
- Transit Police will make routine checks of streetcars and station platforms throughout the course of the day to ensure compliance with M-1 RAIL’s COVID-19 policy as part of their contractual responsibilities.
- M-1 RAIL will rely on its staff members, ambassadors, private security (Allied), Transit Police, Detroit Police Department, and Wayne State University Police Department to ensure all COVID-19 passenger safety policies are followed.
